One of the reasons I love paintings and photography and film is the power they have to move us. A painting can inspire an idea, a photograph can tell us multiple stories in one frame, and at its best, a movie can motivate us to social action.

Some time back, I interviewed Micki Krimmel and Daniel Hengeveld of Participate.net, the online community of Participant Productions - a film company with the mission to make the world a better place through the power of the moving image. With films like Syriana, Good Night and Good Luck, North Country, Murderball, and others, they really are taking a stand and letting it be known that a movie can be both good and raise public awareness about important issues in our society.

So if you have a moment, go over to the site, sign up, and see what role you can take to help out.

  • Zadi,

Thanks for this post. I had read about Participate and Skohl in Wired mag, but it was your video footage that inspired me to take action, visit the website and actually register.

    Thanks again,

    Tony
